How often should I replace my contact lens case?
The case is often the most contaminated part of any contact-lens setup. Studies repeatedly find that 30–80% of in-use cases have visible bacterial biofilm, and once biofilm establishes, cleaning won't fully remove it.
Case care:
- Empty old solution every morning — never top up.
- Rinse the case with fresh solution (not tap water).
- Wipe the inside with a clean tissue or cotton bud.
- Leave open, lid down, on a clean surface to air-dry.
- Replace every 3 months at minimum.
Many multi-purpose solution bottles include a free case for this reason. If yours doesn't, replacement cases cost a few euros and they are the cheapest infection insurance available.
