Can I order a different brand using my current prescription?

Switching brands changes more than the label — it changes the material, the water content, the modulus (stiffness), and sometimes the lens design (centre vs. peripheral thickness, edge profile). Even with identical optical numbers, fit may differ.

A safe switch usually means:

  • Same SPH, CYL, AXIS, ADD as before.
  • BC and DIA available in matching values.
  • Same wear schedule (don't silently jump from monthly to daily mid-prescription).

Brand-to-brand swaps that often work without refitting:

  • One-day silicone hydrogels (e.g. 1-Day Acuvue TruEye ↔ Dailies Total1 ↔ MyDay) — similar properties.
  • Two-week silicone hydrogels (Acuvue Oasys ↔ Biofinity bi-weekly).

Switches that need an optician's input:

  • Hydrogel to silicone hydrogel or vice versa.
  • Standard to multifocal.
  • Standard to toric (and back).
  • Any change of more than 0.25 D in SPH or CYL.
